Vitamins for Hormonal Balance


WHAT ARE HORMONES AND WHAT DO THEY DO

Hormones control every organ in your body so that they function correctly. Without hormones, nothing works properly. When your hormones are not in balance, it can make you feel terrible. Some of the symptoms of hormonal imbalance are: insomnia, fatigue, hot flashes, mood swings, foggy thinking and weight gain due to estrogen dominance. To help alleviate these symptoms, vitamins can be used. If hormonal imbalance is left untreated, it can lead to a decline in your health and disease.

MAGNESIUM

Estrogen dominance causes a magnesium deficiency. A magnesium deficiency can cause chocolate cravings. Chocolate is high in magnesium, so by taking magnesium there will be no chocolate cravings because the body will have the magnesium it needs.

When taking magnesium supplements, it is best to get a chelated magnesium. A chelated magnesium is just a magnesium that has an amino acid wrapped around it for easy absorption. The recommended dietary allowance (RDA) is 400 mg per day.

Some good sources of magnesium are: spinach, halibut, brazil nuts, pine nuts, white and black beans, almonds and unrefined whole grains.

IODINE

If you have trouble absorbing the iodine, take 200 mcg selenium with the iodine to help the body absorb the iodine.

Vitamin E is an antioxidant that protects the body from free radical scavengers. Free radicals are thought to cause aging. Vitamin E also keeps the immune system strong. It also seems to help with progesterone production.

Foods that are high in Vitamin E are: olives, blueberries, spinach, sunflower seeds and almonds.
