Do Hormones Play a Role in Why Men Feel Tired and Fatigued?

Men and Fatigue

As men age, there is a noticeable decline in energy for daily living and activities. Men will say, "I have lost much of the fire in my belly"; "I just do not have the get up and go I had when I was younger"; All I want to do when I get home is sit in front of the TV."

Increasing fatigue in men as they age is often caused by a basic change in body chemistry. Hormones regulate the chemistry of the body. Hormones levels change with age and the result is a corresponding change in body chemistry.

Two hormones that play a key role in feelings of fatigue are testosterone (T) and thyroid. Both hormones affect metabolism i.e. how the body burns or uses calories to produce energy. In car talk, these hormones determine the amount and the octane of the fuel in the body's tank. The two hormones together have a synergy relationship i.e., 1+1=3.

Testosterone has another critical fatigue related affect on a man's body. As testosterone declines, it causes a corresponding increase in depression. Depression robs a man of motivation, the zest for life. The man becomes infected with "procrastinitiss", or the "Oh heck, I can do it tomorrow" sickness.

Medical science has long known that physical activity makes the body feel more energetic and less fatigued. A decline in testosterone and thyroid hormones creates a vicious cycle. As these hormones decline, depression results in a loss of motivation and feeling of fatigue, which in turn causes a man to be less active, which completes a cycle of causing more feeling of fatigue.

Raising testosterone and thyroid to health levels i.e., the levels a man has when he felt his best, ages 25 to thirty - increases metabolism and removes depression and brings back the zest for life, the "fire in the belly" that is so important to enjoying daily life and succeeding in life endeavors.

Treating low hormone levels, when done correctly, is not only safe but also healthy. Studies over the past 6 to 8 years have shown significant improvement in quality of life i.e. increases in zest for life, energy, muscle to fat ratio, mental acuity, and sexual drive and function. Body systems are also healthier: brain, heart, muscle skeletal, etc.,.

Learn the correct way to treat low hormone levels, then talk with your doctor.
